Jessica Alba Biography
Jessica Alba may be best remembered as Max Guevara in TV's Dark Angel, but she is young (born 1981). Engaged to Dark Angel co-star Michael Weatherly, she is off the romance market but has topped the sexy babe charts such as Maxim's, Sci-Fi Babes' and FHM's more than once. Jessica Marie Alba was born on April 28, 1981 in Pomona, California. Since her father, Mark Alba, was in the United States Air Force the family moved several times, living in states Mississippi, California and Texas. Cathy, Jessica's mother, is a mix of French and Danish background while Jessica's father is Spanish and Mexican American. Jessica's brother, Joshua, arrived just one year after Jessica on July 8, 1982. Jessica was bitten by the acting bug at the age five, but it wasn't until she was twelve that she took her first acting class in Southern California. With drama and acting lessons under her young thespian belt, Jessica saw the realization of her dreams when she was signed to an talent agency nine months later. She got her start on television, making appearances on shows like Beverly Hills 90210, and she made her film debut in the 1994 kids comedy Camp Nowhere. Originally cast in a minor role in the film, she got her first big break when the principal actress dropped out and she was asked to take over. Following her debut, Alba did a great deal of work on television. Besides making numerous TV guest appearances in shows such as The Secret World of Alex Mack, Chicago Hope, Brooklyn South, Beverly Hills, and 90210, Jessica Alba's career got an early start in the movies. Jessica won roles in Camp Nowhere (1994), Venus Rising (1995), P.U.N.K.S. (1999), Never Been Kissed (1999), Idle Hands (1999), Paranoid (2000), The Sleeping Dictionary (2003) and Honey (2003). In the television series, Flipper, Jessica played the role of Maya Graham (1995-1996) and was also seen in TV's Too Soon for Jeff (1996). In 2000 Jessica would hit the jackpot starring as Max Guevara in television's Sci-Fi action drama, Dark Angel, winning awards such as the Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television (2001) and ALMA Awards Breakthrough Actress of the Year (2001) and Outstanding Actress in a Television Series (2002). Jessica Alba broke out in 2000 when James Cameron, the Academy Award winning producer of Titanic tapped her to star in "Dark Angel", his FOX television series about a genetically enhanced human prototype who escaped her military handlers as a child who lives in a dreary, futuristic version of Seattle named Max Guevara.
